All-In Cities: Keeping People in Place

One of the core goals of All-In Cities is to advance policies that keep people in place. That's why we are excited by the number of applications we received for the All-In Cities Anti-Displacement Policy Network, and look forward to interview finalists later this month. In the meantime, we are working hard to help our partners fight displacement.

We are excited to share that the president of the Buffalo Common Council, Darius G. Pridgen, recently announced that the city is preparing to transfer plots of public land to the Fruit Belt Community Land Trust, an entity our partners – as part of the Community First Alliance – helped establish to ensure community decision making around affordable housing. We are happy to have been able to play a role in the advocacy around this by urging the city to support the community land trust in our report, Health Equity: The Path to Inclusive Prosperity in Buffalo, and during my testimony before the common council.

We are also continuing our webinar series highlighting promising and innovative policy solutions within the All-In Cities Policy Toolkit. Register nowfor Part II:

As centers of innovation and culture, many cities are enjoying strong growth in their economies and their populations. But not everyone benefits from this vitality: with growth comes the threat of gentrification in hot markets for housing and real estate. This webinar will focus on just cause eviction laws and legal assistance to prevent eviction, two strong policy solutions that local leaders can leverage to protect long-term residents, especially people of color and low-income communities, from being displaced as their cities and neighborhoods flourish.

Confirmed speakers:

  • City Councilmember Helen Gym, Philadelphia
  • Darnell Johnson, Right to the City Boston
  • Michael Johnson, JP Morgan Chase
  • James Crowder, PolicyLink (moderator)

If you missed our first webinar, "Leveraging City Resources to Grow Good, Accessible Jobs," you can review the recording and slides.

Stay tuned for the announcement on selections for the All-In Cities Anti-Displacement Policy Network, and let us know how we can help your city become more all in!
