Economic Inclusion in Southern Cities

From state preemption of progressive local policies to historically persistent racial inequities, Southern cities face a particular set of economic and political challenges to advancing equitable growth. In partnership with the Annie E. Casey Foundation, PolicyLink supports a set of cities in the South that are developing economic inclusion strategies including anchor institution engagement, growing minority-owned businesses, and targeted workforce and hiring strategies. Current cities in the learning community include Asheville, Atlanta, Charlotte, Memphis, Nashville, New Orleans, and Richmond.
