Centering Community Voice in Equitable Development

Equitable development is at the heart of the All-In Cities initiative. It is an approach to creating healthy, vibrant communities of opportunity where low-income communities and communities of color shape and benefit from decisions that impact their neighborhoods. This month we are highlighting the work our partners are doing to advance equitable development, as well as sharing an opportunity for you to learn about how to adopt some of these tools in your work.

  • Equitable Development Webinar: We are continuing our webinar series on policy solutions within the All-In Cities Policy Toolkit with a discussion on "Inclusive Planning: Centering Community Voice in Equitable Development" on Thursday, June 14, 2018, 11:00 a.m. PT / 2:00 p.m. ET. Register here.
  • Community Land Trust in Buffalo: Nonprofit Quarterly covered the work our partners in Buffalo are doing to advance a community land trust in the historic Fruit Belt neighborhood. Check out the article here.
  • All-In Pittsburgh Website Launched: We're excited to announce that our partners in Pittsburgh have launched a new website to support their work towards equitable development in the city. The website will serve as a hub for information on local equity initiatives across the city, tools for advocating for equitable development, and the latest news on the All-In Pittsburgh effort.
  • Op-Ed in Essence: Last month, Latoya Cantrell was sworn in as New Orleans' first female mayor – part of a wave of Black women coming to power in cities across the country. In this essay, I celebrated this momentum, saying, "Given the current momentum and political influence Black women have in cities, now is the time to champion a policy agenda that ensures cities work for Black women."
