All-In Cities: Leading the Nation toward Inclusive Prosperity – A Recap of the All-In Cities DC Convening

The All-In Cities team had another packed month, and we're particularly excited about the huge success of our first convening.

On October 30 and 31, equity leaders from around the country gathered in Washington, DC to discuss how cities must lead the nation toward inclusive prosperity. Speakers included Charlottesville's Vice Mayor Wes Bellamy, journalist Jamelle Bouie, Philadelphia Councilwoman Helen Gym, and Dr. Manuel Pastor among others. The panels explored topics ranging from the economic case for equity, leading on racial equity in the midst of our tense political climate, and strategies for fighting displacement. Here's a recap with photos and video of our two days in DC.

We're also seeing great progress from our partners around the country. Most recently, in Pittsburgh, the Equitable Development Steering Committee re-convened to pledge commitments and form action teams to facilitate policy development and implementation. We've also been continuing our work to advance the conversation around equity for the field. Recently, PolicyLink CEO Angela Glover Blackwell joined the Advisory Council for Accelerator for America, a new nonprofit launched by Los Angeles Mayor Garcetti with other mayors, union leaders and business executives to provide strategic support to initiatives strengthen people's economic security. In addition, PolicyLink Senior Director Sarah Treuhaft presented on inclusive economic growth to approximately 30 mayoral chiefs of staff at the Fall meeting of the Project on Municipal Innovation (PMI), a joint initiative of Living Cities and the Harvard Ash Center.

And of course, there we have important work we're looking ahead to:
